Our First Three LA County DMH Contract Providers Implement Welligent Their Own Way!
Our integrated clinical and billing system can be rolled-out to your agency and users in a variety of ways. Each of our first three (1st 3) LA County Contract Providers are currently live on the Welligent system and each agency customized their roll-out plans to fit their specific needs, strengths, and culture. Here’s a brief summary of how we did it:
Clinical and Billing
One agency is rolling out their entire agency program by program. They started by rolling out one small program. The clinicians in this program started entering their clinical documentation in Welligent, which generates individual claims for each completed services, and the billing department began working those claims and submitting small claim batches to LA County DMH via EDI 837 and 835 transactions. We also used our integrated eligibility checking with State Medi-Cal to verify eligibility using the EDI 270 and 271 transactions.
Billing Only
Another agency is rolling out their billing using the same program by program approach, but is not ready to integrate the clinical portion of Welligent. So the agency’s Project Manager and their billing department collect the daily logs, enter the data into Welligent, and process the claims to LA County DMH via EDI 837 and 835 transactions. This agency has decided to step-up their billing roll-out to prepare for the DMH IS shut down in December and January. When the DMH IS system comes back up in February, their claims will be worked and ready to submit.
Clinical Only
The third option is a clinical only roll-out and that’s what another agency decided was best for them. They rolled out their entire clinical staff in all programs and will review the “claims” that are in Welligent to understand the entire integrated cycle from clinical to billing before they begin submitting claims to LA County DMH via EDI transactions.
All three agencies are happy with their implementation methods and are working through the complete integration of Welligent into their clinical and billing processes. All agencies have different strengths and cultural issues to deal with and Welligent is flexible enough the guide you towards the implementation roll out that works best for you.
